Located in Espírito Santo do Pinhal, at the heart of the Mantiqueira Mountains, Merum Winery embodies the perfect fusion of architecture, landscaping, wine tourism, and design. With a privileged terroir, the winery was born from Sérgio Batista and his wife Luciana’s passion for the world of wine, transforming a personal dream into one of Brazil’s most enchanting destinations for wine lovers and fine dining enthusiasts.
To make this experience even more immersive, Tidelli was chosen to furnish Merum’s spaces, creating environments that enhance the region’s natural beauty while providing comfort and sophistication for visitors. The project reflects the winery’s identity and reinforces the hospitality concept, essential for a wine tourism destination.

Architecture and landscaping inspired by the fluidity of wine
Merum Winery was designed to provide a complete sensory immersion. The architectural concept, created by architects Rafael Derderian and Carlos Marsi, was mainly inspired by the fluidity of wine. "The idea was for everything to feel organic, without defined beginnings or ends. We wanted visitors to discover the spaces naturally and continuously," explains Rafael Derderian.
The landscaping, developed by Ricardo Pessuto, follows the same philosophy. Instead of a traditional European garden, the winery opted for a design that highlights native vegetation. "Sérgio made it clear that he wanted a landscape that blended seamlessly with the surrounding forest," says Pessuto. Thus, ground cover plants and shrubs were carefully selected to add texture and color without disrupting the natural harmony of the location.
This fusion of architecture and landscape creates an immersive experience, where nature and design complement each other, making Merum a place of contemplation and deep connection with the environment.
The choice of Tidelli: design in harmony with the winery’s identity
This atmosphere of connection with nature and well-being is reflected in Tidelli’s furniture selection. Pieces such as the Bora Bora Swing, Veracruz and Pão de Açúcar Armchairs, and Sahara and Flex Sofas were carefully chosen to create inviting spaces for relaxation and appreciation. Meanwhile, the Amendoeira and Lateral Umbrellas provide shade and comfort, ensuring that every moment at the winery is a unique experience.
Tidelli’s presence in Merum’s design was a natural choice. For both the architects and the winery’s owners, the brand was selected not just for its aesthetic appeal but also because of the shared values between both companies. "Tidelli was our first choice because its furniture has a fluid aesthetic, just like the concept of the winery. Additionally, the brand shares our commitment to quality and responsibility," explains Rafael Derderian.
Another key aspect was the color palette chosen to enhance the ambiance. "How could we not incorporate the color of wine into a place where wine is the protagonist?" highlights Amanda Bernardes, Tidelli’s São Paulo Commercial Manager. The Bordeaux-colored nautical rope, paired with neutral tones like sand and moss green, brought a warm and inviting touch to the space, creating a sophisticated atmosphere while maintaining the winery’s rustic and authentic character.

A sensory experience: wine, gastronomy, and connection
Merum is more than just a winery. It is an invitation to experience wine in all its nuances. Beyond the vineyards and guided tastings, the Wine Bar, inaugurated in 2024, offers a unique dining experience led by Chef Lucia Sequerra. Blending influences from her Egyptian, Dutch, and Italian heritage, Lucia crafts signature dishes that pair perfectly with Merum’s wines.
"Here, we think outside the box. We work with local ingredients, respecting seasonality and supporting regional producers", says the chef. Among the most requested dishes are the slow-cooked lamb ravioli, served with its own reduction sauce, and the kinkan orange compote, a perfect complement to cheeses and white wines.
For Sérgio Batista, every detail of the winery was designed to make visitors feel truly welcomed. "We want people to come here without rushing, to connect with nature, and to leave with beautiful memories. We hope they depart with a desire to return and to share this experience with friends and family," he affirms.
Design that celebrates the art of fine living
Tidelli’s presence at Merum Winery reaffirms the role of design in creating memorable experiences. Combining comfort, aesthetics, and functionality, Tidelli’s furniture transforms the winery’s spaces into perfect settings for enjoying the landscape, savoring fine wine, and sharing special moments.
More than just a destination, Merum is a celebration of time, nature, and the art of fine living. And Tidelli, with its sophisticated and durable furniture, plays a key role in this story—adding exclusivity and warmth to one of Brazil’s most charming wine tourism projects.
