Tidelli Institute and Marina Bitu join forces for the first time during SPFW (São Paulo Fashion Week)
This last week was marked by the most important fashion event in Latin America, São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW). The spectacle, which took place in the capital city of São Paulo, is considered the fifth largest Fashion Week in the world, following those held in Paris, Milan, New York, and London.
The 55th edition of this biannual event brought together celebrities, fashion brands, models, designers, and all fashion enthusiasts. SPFW has become the showcase that presents the innovations and development of Brazilian brands to the world of fashion!
Among the highlights of the event, we emphasize the exclusive partnership between the Ceará-born fashion designer Marina Bitu and the Tidelli Institute. Both businesses were the stars of a one-of-a-kind meeting that took place on the catwalks of Shopping Iguatemi on the 27th.
Marina Bitu, a Fortaleza-based fashion business founded in 2017, is known for its unique creations that salvage handmade and century-old expertise. The company made its SPFW debut in collaboration with the Tidelli Institute, with the presentation of the Hotel Bitu collection, inspired by the iconic hotel in downtown Fortaleza that provided a location for innumerable characters and stories. The designer proposes a time travel to Ceará's capital city in 1911, restoring the city's historical icons, marked by optimism and cultural and artistic effervescence.
The collection showcased looks dominated by drapes and ruffles, preferring neutral and earthy tones over saturated and bold colors. It also explored multiple senses through textures, scents, and flavors, drawing inspiration from elements of the hotel and gastronomic universe, such as decoration objects, furniture, drinks, and food.
Among the pieces presented in the fashion show, a standout was a maxi bag and a dress, both hand-woven with different types of weaves and knots using Tidelli's nautical ropes. Additionally, the partnership featured an exclusive piece, designed by Marina, to be produced by Tidelli Institute.
The Tidelli Institute, conceived by the Mandelli family, founders of the Tidelli furniture industry, aims to create opportunities for a more dignified and prosperous life. Through the "Spiral of Prosperity" project, factory waste such as fabrics, nautical ropes, and wood is donated to the institute. With specialized curation, these waste materials are transformed into new products, which are acquired by the institute and made available for sale in physical and online stores. Bags, accessories, and smaller items are crafted from these premium ropes and fabrics. This initiative promotes environmental protection by reducing waste disposal and stimulates income generation, contributing to the circular economy.
"The idea was to bring the materials that are part of Tidelli's DNA into clothing and accessories, celebrating the union of Fashion, Design, Sustainability, and Architecture on the catwalks," says Marina Bitu. Marina Bitu and Tidelli share the same values: sustainable development through handmade craftsmanship, honoring the Brazilian cultural heritage, and reinventing manual art.
Tatiana Mandelli, the company's founder, highlighted that this is just the first collaboration between the brand and the fashion designer. "Our goal is to establish an increasingly solid partnership with designers for products at the Tidelli Institute in Salvador."
